About the Artist

許勝利 Xû Shèng Lì is from and based in Fujian, known to us as "Ali". As a Grade One State Artist, he studied pottery and oil painting in school and most of his work reflects his love for nature and tea.

Cultural Tradition

應景 Yìng Jîng, " responding to the natural surroundings", is one of the most influential and practised philosophy of life in China. Practically, this could mean consuming seasonally and living harmoniously with the season's pace. In cultivating joy, this could reflect on everything we do and how we choose to be, from choosing a teaware that responds to the season's beauty to feeling inspired to write a poem. The Chinese lifestyle is intricately linked to how harmony can be cultivated to respond to nature's ever-changing pace.
