「冬藏之道,閉藏為本。」
Dōng cáng zhī dào, bì cáng wéi běn.
“In winter, we store. The wisdom of the season is rooted in retreat and preservation.”
Huangdi Neijing《黃帝內經》

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), winter is not a time to push, but rather a time to rest, preserve yang energy (陽氣 yáng qì), and gently support immunity, digestion, and circulation. This is the season when the body naturally turns inward, and the digestive fire, our core source of energy, needs warm, nourishing support.

The Winter Wellness Tea Set is a seasonal ritual designed to support you in living in tune with winter, using wild, aged and warming teas to restore internal balance, relieve stagnation, and prevent cold-related fatigue, bloating or sluggishness.

Whether you're feeling tired, heavy, or simply looking to boost your inner fire, this set supports your holistic health throughout the colder months.

Choose from:

  • 10-Day Intro Ritual (5 × 8g) – perfect for starting gently
  • 30-Day Cycle Support (5 × 20g) – for deeper nourishment throughout the winter season

Cultural Signicance

In the classical Chinese worldview, the seasons are not simply shifts in climate, but movements of life itself. The phrase 春生,夏長,秋收,冬藏 (chūn shēng, xià zhǎng, qiū shōu, dōng cáng)—Spring gives birth, Summer allows growth, Autumn gathers, Winter stores—captures the essence of how nature transforms, and how we, too, are meant to live in rhythm with time. Each season carries its own energetic instruction: in spring, we rise and move outward; in summer, we expand and connect; in autumn, we collect and let go; and in winter, we return inward to rest and restore. Health, from this perspective, is not a static state, but a process of ongoing attunement—of knowing when to act, when to retreat, and when to be still.

Governed by the Water element and linked to the Kidneys, winter prompts us to conserve our energy, protect our inner warmth, and move more slowly so that the body can replenish what has been expended. It’s a time to preserve 陽氣 (yáng qì) at its deepest level, like seeds lying dormant beneath the soil, gathering strength for seasons yet to come. Rooted in the ancient wisdom of the Huangdi Neijing, this cycle offers us a way of living that is restorative, cyclical, and deeply human—an invitation to step out of urgency and return to harmony with the earth’s natural timing.

Tips

Use 6-10g of tea per session for at least 10 re-brews.
Ensure your water is mineral-rich and lively, maintained at 100 °C (212°F) throughout.
For optimal results, a high-quality, breathable vessel like a genuine Yixing Zisha Teapot is highly recommended.
Thoroughly preheat the vessel before infusion.

Health Benefits

Honouring the principle of "Winter Restoration" (冬藏) allows the body to replenish its vital energy (精 jīng) and preserve yang qi (陽氣)—the foundation of immunity, vitality, and long-term wellbeing. By slowing down, eating warm foods, conserving energy, and protecting the Kidneys (腎 shèn), we allow our system to repair and rebuild at its deepest level. This internal storing ensures we enter spring with resilience, clarity, and strength, rather than exhaustion. In TCM, how well we store in winter determines how well we grow in spring.
