Master’s Green — Traditional Whole Leaf Green Tea from Wild & Ancient Tea Trees
林老師傳統工藝 二零二六 綠茶
A traditional Chinese green tea crafted in the mountains of Guizhou from wild, ancient and indigenous tea trees, using Master Lin’s ancestral "Living Tea" approach, where whole leaf harvesting and tea-making methods are passed down through generations.
Unlike most modern green teas, Master’s Green carries intensely floral aromas reminiscent of a subtle Shuixian Oolong, alongside deep sweetness and layered complexity, while remaining remarkably calm and gentle on the body. Even when brewed strongly with boiling water, it stays smooth and clear, without the bitterness, jitters, or lightheaded feeling many people associate with green tea today.
The leaves are harvested whole — bud, leaf and stem together — allowing the tea to continue breathing and transforming throughout the crafting and storing process. This traditional way of making green tea creates a fuller texture, calmer energy and longer-lasting fragrance rarely found in commercial green teas.
Considered by Master Lin’s family to be the “ancestor of all green teas”, this was one of the teas that inspired Rui to found Grass People Tree and begin sharing the stories and living traditions of Guizhou tea with the world.

Truly one of the most delicious and unique teas I've ever experienced. I'd long thought that green teas weren't quite "for me", with the ones I've tried before easily turning bitter and/or having a weak flavor and aroma even when brewed at the recommended temperature. Master's Green changed my mind completely. Just like Rui says, it doesn't turn bitter even with boiling water! Instead, the heat brings out a rich, aromatic, and complex sweetness that persists for many infusions. I was particularly impressed by the hui gan, which lingered for quite some time after drinking the tea, and the incredible aroma that had me closing my eyes and sighing with contentment. Drinking Master's Green for the first time brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, Rui and the Grass People Tree family, for making such wonderful teas available.
To start, the leaves themselves look so wholesome, deep colour and still seem full of life.
Im experimenting with temps and times but so far the tasting notes are subtle and ever changing, really keeps the mind focused on the tea.
finally the Cha Qi, The feeling after drinking was very noticeable to me but also very balanced.
Very much enjoying its journey.
Easy to brew. I like how all the teas use boiling water and aren't picky about getting the precise temperature. That's the way nature intended! Go green and tea great again!
Starts with grassy freshness, develops depth and sweetness very quickly (by second infusion) and continues to feel energising and balancing through many further brews. Miraculously, it’s a green tea that can stand 100° water and doesn’t have a trace of bitterness. Beautifully crafted to combine all the green tea essentials: freshness of cut grass, vibrancy and sharpness, thirst-quenching, with sweetness and umami in perfect harmony.
More magic moments to have when my parcel of many different teas arrived. Like reading a poem and then tasting each tea is an experience to be transported by. Thank you Grass People Tea Team for this life affirming experience and excellent service.
